Plans

In the past year, the team has worked to establish a governance structure inclusive of residents, institutional, government and nonprofit stakeholders to develop a protocol to facilitate sustainable regeneration of Detroit’s historic McDougall Hunt Neighborhood.

During the summer of 2018, a Vision Document was created to highlight the proposed project and its desired outcome. The neighborhood’s rich cultural history makes maintaining its cultural relevance a priority. The group worked to identity the neighborhood’s assets and location of all stakeholders to form a collaborative planning team to lead a ‘people-first’ redevelopment plan for the McDougall Hunt Neighborhood.

These stakeholders worked collaboratively to evaluate available data, analyze existing conditions and prioritize issues and concerns of residents; to recognize opportunities in order to develop action steps to help advance the neighborhoods goals,

A resident driven Conceptual Plan was created in the Winter 2019 with the intent to guide and prioritize the planning process moving forward. The team seeks to engage fully in continued planning activities, to develop projects towards realization of the plan’s goals and objectives; to strengthen capacity of neighborhood-based entities; and to incorporate sustainable and environmentally friendly protocols in McDougall Hunt redevelopment.
